What
is Yoga?
Yoga means Union, a union with higher self.
In olden days, yoga was taught on a one-on-one basis by a Guru. Yoga
is a complete way of life to achieve a continuous state of Ananda (bliss).
We offer private yoga session for individuals, couples (partner yoga),
and small groups. The instructor arrange the session to meet all ages
from a child to elder person.
The session includes asanas (yoga positions and postures, and poses for
meditation and body control), breath control (control of vital energy),
and meditation.

Limbs of Yoga - Union with Higher Self
Yoga is one of the 6 systems of philosophies in India. Yoga means Union,
a union with higher self. Hatha Yoga was first taught by Lord Shiva to
his consort Parvathi, the Universal Mother. Hatha Yoga will give you the
knowledge of controlling two energies "Ha" and "Tha"
(Prana and Apana). This philosophy consists of an 8 fold path or limbs.
Hatha yoga will help gain control over the mind, which is called Raja
Yoga. In olden days, yoga was taught on a one-on-one basis by a Guru.
The first text of Yoga was compiled over 5000 years ago by Patanjali as
Yoga Sutras.
Yoga is a complete way of life to achieve a continuous state of Ananda
(bliss). We offer classes in all of the 8 limbs of yoga as listed below.
Yama: Restrictions
Ahimsa - Non violence - Nor harming the self, others,
or environment
Satya - Truthfulness - Not intending to deceive others in our thoughts,
speech, and actions
Asteya - Non-stealing - Not taking which is not given
Brahmacarya - Abstention from sex
Aparigraha - Abstention from greed
Niyama: Observances
Sauca - Cleanliness
Santosa - Contentment - Acceptance of external situation
Tapas - Deep commitment to yoga practice
Svadhayaya - Self-study
Iswara Pranidhana - Surrender of the self to universe
Pratyahara: Abstraction of senses; withdrawal of the mental
energy from the senses
Abstraction of the senses, withdrawal of the senses
of perception from their objects
Pranayama: The science of breath control. Control of vital
energy
Regulation of breath leading to integration of mind and body
Asana: Posture or position. Poses for meditation and body
control
Integration of mind and body through physical activity
Dharana: Concentration of the mind
The initial step of deep concentrative meditation,
where the object being focused upon is held in the mind without consciousness
wavering from it.
Dhyana: Meditation
An instrument to gain self knowledge, separating maya
(illusion) from reality to help attain the ultimate goal of moksha (liberation).
Samadhi: The Super conscious state
A non-dualistic state of consciousness in which the
consciousness of the experiencing subject becomes one with the experienced
object, and in which the mind becomes still (one-pointed or concentrated)
though the person remains conscious.

Usually, classes are held in the afternoons and in some evenings. We
